The Middle Creek Mustangs, who were the top-seeded team, progressed to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A volleyball state playoffs on Saturday afternoon.

Middle Creek defeated Leesville Road in three sets, with scores of 25-13, 25-7, and 25-13.

The two opposing teams began the game by scoring back and forth, but Middle Creek gained dominance and broke a 9-9 tie in the initial set, ultimately winning the set 25-13.

Middle Creek completely controlled the second set, claiming victory with a score of 25-7. The Mustangs maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the third set. A 25-13 win in the third set solidified their sweep over the opponent.

Middle Creek (21-1) will progress to the next stage of the playoffs on Tuesday, facing off against (17) Cleveland at home. The Rams achieved a victory in five sets against (16) Holly Springs on the away court.

Holly Springs and Middle Creek are both part of the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference. In their two meetings this season, the Mustangs were victorious over the Golden Hawks.

Leesville Road finishes the season with a record of 10 wins and 11 losses.
