On Monday evening, Voyager Academy emerged victorious over Jones Senior in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A boys soccer state playoffs. This win secured their spot in the fourth round, which will take place later this week.
In the first half, the Vikings scored one goal followed by four goals in the second half, resulting in a 5-0 victory.
Voyager needed some time to move away, but the Vikings controlled the ball for most of the first half. Micah Smith successfully scored the first goal of the match in the 7th minute, and that score remained unchanged until halftime.
In the latter portion of the game, Voyager asserted dominance. Carlos Green netted two goals, and Tyler Hinshaw and Jonah Ades each contributed one goal.
Voyager will face the number one seed, Hobbton, in the fourth round of the playoffs. They will journey to Hobbton on Thursday evening.
Voyager currently holds a record of 15 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. Meanwhile, Jones’ season concluded with a record of 12 wins and 6 losses.
