The top rankings for preseason boys indoor track and field include Parkland, Ardrey Kell, and Mallard Creek.
Is it possible for a third team to be at the top of the HighSchoolOT statewide rankings for boys indoor track and field? If the preseason rankings remain the same, this could be the case as Parkland claims the number one spot for the 2023-24 season.
The final rankings for each season are determined by combining the times and marks from all championships and calculating scores as if it were a single state meet. In 2022, Western Guilford was ranked first and in 2021, Porter Ridge was ranked first, even though neither team won the 4A championship.
Cuthbertson, the reigning N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A champion, is ranked eighth. Franklin, the 3A champion, is in 25th place and East Burke, the 1A/2A champion, is in 10th place.
The following is a list of all teams and their ranking from one year ago.
