Middle Creek easily defeats Green Level, securing their spot in the 4A regional championship.

Middle Creek’s volleyball team had a playoff record of 7-8 before this year’s playoffs. Following their fourth round game on Saturday, the Mustangs, who were the top seed, are now advancing to the regional championship for the first time ever.

(1) Middle Creek battled through two tough sets before pulling away from (12) Green Level in the fourth round of the playoffs on Saturday. The Mustangs swept the Gators 25-23, 25-23, 25-14.

The initial two sets were in close competition, with Green Level even holding the lead at certain moments. However, as the teams reached the 20-point mark, Middle Creek executed key plays to secure the victory.

Middle Creek’s momentum from the second set continued into the third, leading the Mustangs to a dominant 25-14 victory.

Middle Creek emerged victorious against a team that has a strong track record in the playoffs despite being relatively new. Prior to Saturday, Green Level had a record of 13-2 in the playoffs and even won the 4A state championship in 2021.

This was the third encounter between Middle Creek and Green Level this season. Middle Creek emerged victorious in the first two matches, but this was their first sweep against the Gators. They had previously defeated the Gators with scores of 3-1 and 3-2.

In the upcoming regional competition, Middle Creek will go up against a team that has experience with successful playoff runs – the 11th seeded Green Hope.

Middle Creek faced Green Hope, a team in the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference, who had achieved four consecutive 4A state titles in 2016-2019. In the fourth round on Saturday, the Falcons swept (2) D.H. Conley in three sets.

The 4A state championship game on Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh will feature the winner of the Green Hope-Middle Creek game, which will be determined at the regional championship on Tuesday night at Middle Creek. The specific time for the regional championship has not yet been announced.
