Whaley’s outstanding performance leads to a sweep for (12) Farmville Central over (21) Bunn.
The Farmville Central team relied on Savannah Whaley to perform at her best, and she delivered.
Whaley’s impressive performance of 21 kills and 18 digs led the host Jaguars to a dominant 3-0 victory against Bunn in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A volleyball playoffs on Saturday. The final scores were 25-19, 25-22, and 28-26.
These numbers were sufficient for a match consisting of four or five sets, but UNC-Pembroke did not require that many to fend off a determined Wildcats team.
Bunn finished the year with a record of 11 wins and 10 losses.
In the upcoming round, the Jaguars (20-4) will be on the move, heading to Midway, who were the runners-up in last year’s East regional. This year, the Raiders were victorious in the Southeastern Conference and have only been defeated by 4A and 3A teams.
