The Carolina Hurricanes have revealed that defenseman Brett Pesce will be out of commission for two to four weeks due to a lower-body injury. This update was announced on Wednesday.

Pesce has been inactive since October 19 and underwent a surgical procedure on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, I have some unfortunate news,” stated Coach Rod Brind’Amour during his media conference on Wednesday. “I was optimistic that he would return in the next day or two, but it seems that will not be possible.”

At 28 years old, Pesce has recorded one goal and one assist in five games played this season. He was present for every game last season and had an average ice time of 21:12.

There were rumors during the offseason that Pesce could be traded, and he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
