The Leesville Road boys’ soccer team secured the Cap 6 championship with a 3-1 victory over Enloe.


The final game of the regular season determined the winner of the Cap 6 4A Conference championship.

On Wednesday, Leesville Road and Enloe were both tied for first in the conference with records of 6-2-1. A victory would secure the conference title for one team, while a tie would mean a shared championship.

The team from Leesville Road ensured that there would be no draw. They scored three goals in the first half, securing a 3-1 victory over the Eagles. This win granted them the conference championship and the number one seed in the 4A state playoffs.

In the game between Leesville Road and their opponent, Dillon Demidovich scored two goals. The first one was in the 8th minute and was a header that went past the goal keeper. He then scored another goal in the 22nd minute.

In the 10th minute of the game, Enloe’s Owen Griffith scored a goal off a free kick, bringing the score to 1-1. Demidovich then scored a second goal, making the overall score 2-1.

In the 32nd minute, Leesville Road extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal from Mason Auerbach off a throw in before halftime. This secured an insurance goal for the team.

Both teams had several chances, but neither managed to score in the second half.

The Pride ended the season with a record of 14 wins, 5 losses, and 2 ties, and a conference record of 7 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie in the Cap 6 division. Enloe’s overall record is now 14 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties, with a conference record of 6 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie.

On Friday, the N.C. High School Athletic Association will unveil the state playoff brackets for boys’ soccer. Both Leesville Road and Enloe are anticipated to qualify for the playoffs.
