The history of the NCHSAA boys soccer championship: winners organized by year and school.

The inaugural N.C. High School Athletic Association boys soccer championship took place in 1927. There have been several modifications since the sport was initially approved by the NCHSAA.

  • There is no documentation of any championships occurring in 1929 or 1930.

  • Although there are documented championships from 1931 to 1938, there is a lack of records for any championships between 1939 and 1965.

  • The championship remained a solitary event, as it had initially been, spanning from 1966 to 1985.

  • In South Carolina, Ben Lippen, a private school, was able to compete in the NCHSAA playoffs and emerged victorious in 1973, 1975, and 1976.

  • Both Page and Sanderson were declared co-champions in 1977 and 1979.

  • In 1986 and 1987, there were only two championships. However, from 1988 to 2000, there were three titles, with the smaller two being combined into one as 1A/2A.

  • Starting in 2001, there were a total of four championships.

  • Due to the pandemic, the 2020 championship took place in the 2021 calendar year.

Sanderson has won the most team titles, with a total of 11. Following closely behind is a three-way tie for second place, with Charlotte Catholic, Cardinal Gibbons, and Swansboro all having seven titles each.

Jamestown, Kernersville, Lewisville, and Mineral Springs have all been shut down. Jamestown was closed and its students were relocated to Ragsdale High School, while Kernersville did the same with East Forsyth High School. Mineral Springs is located near present-day North Forsyth and Lewisville is in close proximity to West Forsyth.
