The Carolina Panthers will be without running back Miles Sanders and four other players for their game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Charlotte, N.C.
Chuba Hubbard has been named the starting running back for the Carolina Panthers in their game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, as veteran Miles Sanders will not be playing due to a shoulder injury.
Sanders, who inked a $25.4 million contract for four years during the current season, has been the starting running back for the Panthers in their first five games. Despite being the highest-paid running back this summer, the team has yet to secure a win. In the past two weeks, Hubbard has been given 23 carries, three more than Sanders. In the recent 42-24 defeat against the Detroit Lions, Sanders saw less playing time in the second half due to a fumble in the first half.
Sanders is among the five players declared as unavailable for the Panthers (0-5).
Vonn Bell (quad), Xavier Woods (hamstring), Chandler Zavala (neck), and Gio Ricci (shoulder) will not be playing due to injuries. This leaves the Panthers with a shortage of safeties, and head coach Frank Reich stated that Matthias Farley will be brought up from the practice squad to start in their place.
Defensive end Derrick Brown (knee/ankle) and outside linebacker Brian Burns (ankle) are both considered questionable. Burns participated in full during Friday’s practice, but Brown was limited.
