On Saturday, in the Atlantic Coast Conference opening game, North Carolina State defeated Boston College 84-78 in overtime. DJ Horne contributed 21 points while Jayden Taylor added 18 points to the victory.

North Carolina State’s DJ Burns Jr. had a total of 17 points, while Casey Morsell contributed 12 points to the team’s score.

Jaeden Zackery had a total of 20 points, while Quinten Post scored 18 points, Claudell Harris Jr. had 14 points, and Devin McGlockton contributed 13 points for Boston College.

The discrepancy was evident at the free throw line, with the Wolfpack making 18 out of 21 shots while Boston College only made 14 out of 26.

With 1:15 remaining in overtime, Taylor scored a 3-pointer, giving the Wolfpack (5-2) a 77-75 lead which they maintained until the end. Zackery’s two successful free throws with 1:42 left marked Boston College’s final lead at 75-74.

With 3 minutes and 29 seconds left in overtime, Harris made a 3-pointer that gave Boston College a 73-71 lead and marked their first time being ahead since they led 7-6 in the first five minutes.

Zackery failed to make a difficult layup near the basket with less than five seconds remaining in the game. After the miss, Mohamed Diarra from North Carolina State grabbed the rebound and passed it to Taylor, who attempted to score while driving the entire length of the court. However, his shot was unsuccessful as he was blocked by two defenders, preventing the game from going into overtime.

On Wednesday, November 26, the Wolfpack will be playing against Maryland-Eastern Shore.

On Tuesday, Central Connecticut will play at Boston College.
