A former Corinth Holders High School and Duke University offensive lineman is headed to the NFL. Jacob Monk was drafted by Green Bay Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is the first player from his high school, which opened in 2010, to hear his name called in an NFL Draft.

The Packers picked Monk with the 28th pick in the fifth round, which was also the No. 163 overall selection in the draft.

He is a 6-foot-3, 308-pound prospect who has been projected to play center in the NFL. He ran an impressive 5.09 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Monk was a member of Corinth Holders’ graduating class of 2019. He was a 4-star prospected and the No. 10 player in North Carolina, according to 247Sports.

At Duke, Monk started all over the offensive line and made an All-ACC team three times. As a freshman, he started all 12 games at right tackle. He then started 11 games at right guard as a sophomore and 12 games at that spot as a junior. In 2022, Monk made five starts at center and five starts at right guard. Last fall, he was a team captain and split his starts at those two spots once again.

Monk’s father Stanley played running back at Duke. His late uncle, Quincy, played in the NFL for three seasons after standing out at linebacker at the University of North Carolina.
