The Lucas Oil Stadium home to the Indianapolis Colts is hosting a Super Bowl of sorts, but this time it’s for team USA swimming. The Lucas Oil Stadium has been converted from a football field to the largest swimming facility, Dodd Technologies Spear corporation, Shiel Sexton and Mirtha Pools built these pools in the surrounding infrastructure in less than a month. The stadium is divided in half featuring a standard set up with 1050 m lanes for the main competition in an additional 1050 m lanes and seven more at 25 yard lanes for warm up and cool down on the other side of the curtain. It takes just under 2 million gallons of water to fill up a pool inside the city. Now we we get that water from an unlikely source. A fire hydrant located just outside a soy state on Wednesday. The stadium broke the record for highest attendance at an indoor swim meet. Welcoming in 22,209 Spectators. The stadium has improved the spectator experience with the Jumbotron impressive graphics and other stadium perk swimmer and world record holder. Reagan Smith even commented that as she was competing in the 100 m backstroke race, she could see herself chasing the world record line on the Jumbotron above her. The stadium is sure to match the exciting atmosphere these Olympic hopefuls will face when they get to Paris for Wral. I’m Caroline Routh reporting.
