— Both of the Triangle’s professional soccer teams will compete in the all-star The Soccer Tournament (TST) coming in June to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

NC Courage schedule in The Soccer Tournament

TST’s eight-team women’s field is split into two groups of four teams, with the NC Courage headlining Group B.

The Courage begin play at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, against Burnley, and play a second game that night, at 8:15 p.m. against Tampa Bay Sun FC. Their final group stage match will be against SoccerHead FC on Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. 

The top two teams from each women’s group will advance to Sunday afternoon’s semifinals, with the winners playing in the $1 million women’s championship game on Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m.

NC FC schedule in The Soccer Tournament

NC FC begins group play against Villarreal at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5. Their second group stage match will take place that evening against City Soccer Society, kicking off at 8 p.m.. Their last group stage game, against Como 1907, is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m.

The top two teams from each group and the eight third-place teams with the highest point totals (32 total teams) will advance to the knockout stage, which will commence on June 7. The men’s round of 16 and quarterfinal games will both be played on Saturday, June 8. Semifinals will take place on the evening of Sunday, June 9, and the $1 million championship game will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

What is The Soccer Tournament?

The Soccer Tournament is a $1 million, winner-take-all, 7-on-7 competition that pits teams like the NC Courage and NC FC against groups formed by celebrities and athletes.

Tickets are on sale now.

Fifty six teams will compete over six days – June 5 through 10 – at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

The 2024 edition will include The Concafa Soccer Club, formed by NFL player turned sports personality Pat McAfee on a roster with former NFL star JJ Watt and Nati SC, which features another former NFL pro, Chad Ochocinco.

Kealia Watt, JJ’s wife, spent several years playing in the National Women’s Soccer League, and will also play in the tournament’s women’s bracket.
