Senior night is a moment for contemplation – and occasionally, a crucial match as well.

Despite the desire to celebrate the accomplishments of the seniors on their special night, C.B. Aycock had important tasks to attend to on Monday.

The Golden Falcons achieved a 2-1 victory in Quad County Conference competition.

Connor Piwowarski and Cristian Marroquin Lopez netted the first-half goals for Aycock, with Piwowarski toeing in a cross from Drew Huff and Marroquin Lopez getting on the other end of a long ball from Axl Perry.

During the fall of 2019, prior to Piwowarski and Marroquin Lopez entering high school as seniors, the Golden Falcons had a record of only 3-20.

Aycock, with a record of 19-2-1 overall and 13-0 in their conference, will aim to achieve their 20th victory of the year against Southern Wayne in their final regular season game on Wednesday.

Cooper Harris netted the second-half goal for Smithfield-Selma (11-8-1, 8-5). The Spartans will close out the regular season at home on Wednesday against East Wake.
