A university in the Sun Belt Conference has extended an offer to a talented running back from one of the top 2A football programs in North Carolina.

Junior running back Irving Brown from Wallace-Rose Hill High School revealed on his X account that he has received a verbal offer from Appalachian State University.

In May, NC Central University became the inaugural institution to provide Brown.

Brown is recorded as being 5 feet and 10 inches tall and weighing 193 pounds. He claims to have a 40-yard dash time of 4.56 seconds. He also plays in the defensive back position.

The rusher has played on the Bulldogs’ varsity team since his sophomore year. He has eclipsed 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns in each of his two varsity seasons.

Brown rushed for 1,696 yards and 23 touchdowns on 182 carries in his junior season this past fall. He also caught 12 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns.

In his time as a varsity player, Brown has amassed a total of 3,694 yards gained and scored 57 touchdowns.

Brown, an athlete who participates in multiple sports, is currently scoring an average of 8.8 points per game while playing for Wallace-Rose Hill’s basketball team.

In 2023, the Bulldogs’ football team had a final record of 8 wins and 4 losses, becoming champions of the East Central Conference. Hertford County defeated Wallace in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 2A East playoffs, putting an end to their season.
