The following numbers will be utilized by the N.C. High School Athletic Association in order to determine the upcoming realignment.

The NCHSAA utilizes a school’s Average Daily Membership, which includes the student population from the first month of the academic year. This is different from enrollment as it takes into account the average number of students present rather than just those who are enrolled. This is used for classification purposes.

The upcoming realignment will only consider “ADM” as opposed to the previous realignment which also took into account the school’s Wells Fargo Cup points (which measured success in all sports) and the percentage of students receiving free and reduced lunch (as socioeconomic factors often correlate with overall athletic success).

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction supplies the ADM figures to the NCHSAA, which then makes adjustments to accommodate unique situations at specific schools, such as early college programs.

We have organized the member schools of NCHSAA in descending order from largest to smallest, starting with Ardrey Kell and ending with Nantahala. In case of ties, they are arranged alphabetically.

Blake suggests a way to make eight classes work efficiently.
