Player in focus (Josh Windass):
John Windass, hailing from Hull, England, was born on January 9, 1994. He is a skilled football player currently on the roster of Wigan Athletic. Windass developed his talent at Huddersfield Town’s youth academy, but never competed for the team at the professional level.
The midfielder, standing at 175 cm, started playing professionally for Accrington Stanley. After scoring 22 goals in 77 league appearances, he transferred to Glasgow Rangers in 2016. Two years later, Josh Windass signed with Wigan Athletic and has remained with the team at DW Stadium. He scored his first goal in the Championship on September 18, 2018, helping his team secure a 2-1 victory against Hull City.
Josh primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but he also often takes on the roles of central midfielder and second striker. It is important to mention that Josh’s father, Dean Windass, was a professional footballer who represented teams such as Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, and Bradford City.
