Player in focus (Cedric Bakambu):

Cedric Bakambu

Cedric Bakambu is recognized as one of the top African forwards. He previously represented France at the 2010 UEFA U19 European Championship and helped them win against Spain in the final, which is considered his most significant achievement in his international career.

Despite previously playing for French youth teams, Cedric Bakambu chose to play for the senior national team of DR Congo. He made his first appearance for the Congolese team against Cameroon, and scored his debut goal in a 2-1 victory over Angola on 26 March, 2016. In terms of club play, Bakambu spent four years with Sochaux from 2010 to 2014 before transferring to Bursaspor on 1 September, 2014.

Bakambu joined Villarreal in La Liga on August 19, 2015 after scoring 13 goals in 27 games for a Turkish team. He has been playing for Villarreal, also known as the Yellow Submarine, since then. On August 23, 2015, Bakambu made his debut for Villarreal in a match against Real Betis, which ended in a 1-1 tie.
