Sparkles will be flying when Netherlands and France, the two title hopefuls, go head to head at Red Bull Arena on Friday evening. Netherlands came from behind to beat Poland in their opener, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Kylian Mbappe and Co. Man City defender Nathan Ake should be fit for the match despite suffering a minor injury against Poland, while Hoffenheim attacker Wout Weghorst is pushing for a start after scoring the winner in the EURO 2024 opener.

Les Tricolores, on the other hand, survived Austria in their Group D opener, but beating Virgil van Dijk and Co. is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, both teams should be happy with one point from the Group D derby. Key France attacker Kylian Mbappe is a major doubt after suffering broken nose against Austria, with Olivier Giroud being ready to step up. Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is pushing for a start as well.

Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.

In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.

Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.

A number of top-class players were part of the Netherlands national team that won the Euro 1988 trophy, with the likes of Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Erwin Koeman all starting the match against the Soviet Union. However, many people consider Johan Cruyff the best player in the history of Dutch football. Cruyff won three European Cups with Ajax as a player and he clinched the European Cup with Barcelona as a coach.

Johan Cruyff is well known as “the father of modern football”. Netherlands participated in the World Cup final on three occasions (1974, 1978, 2010), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. The Oranje welcome their rivals at Amsterdam ArenA, Philips Stadion and Stadion Feijenoord.
