Player in the spotlight (Mateo Kovacic):

Mateo Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic was born in Linz, Austria to Croatian parents. He spent seven years in the LASK Linz youth academy before moving on to join Dinamo Zagreb. He quickly displayed a lot of promise after being promoted to the senior squad.

He scored 7 goals in 43 league games and earned a prestigious transfer to Inter Milan, where he played as a defensive and offensive midfielder for three years at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Although he didn’t make a strong impression in Italy, Kovacic was bought by the powerful Real Madrid and has remained there since. He is considered one of Croatia’s most gifted soccer players currently and has been playing for the national team since he was 19 years old.

In a span of only three years, he achieved more than 25 appearances for his country’s team, participating in the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 for Vatreni. Despite not having been given ample opportunity to shine at Real Madrid, Kovacic still has a promising future ahead of him.

Highlighted Team (Chelsea):

Chelsea

In recent years, Chelsea has become a prominent team in the English Premier League. Under the leadership of Roberto Di Matteo, they achieved their first Champions League victory in 2011/2012. However, it must be acknowledged that their win against Bayern Munich in the final was largely due to luck.

Chelsea has called Stamford Bridge their home since 1876 and they are a dominant force when playing there. They have achieved seven FA Cup victories, five League Cup triumphs, two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup wins, and one UEFA Europa League title. In the 2012/2013 Europa League final against Benfica, the team was led by manager Rafael Benitez and ultimately secured the victory with a winning goal from Branislav Ivanovic.

Following their victory in the 2014/2015 Premier League, the Blues encountered difficulties in the following season. This led to the end of Jose Mourinho’s second term with the club and the arrival of Antonio Conte for the 2016/2017 season.
