The top 25 teams in the state for basketball, according to preseason rankings, are led by Myers Park and Central Cabarrus.
Myers Park is at the forefront of HighSchoolOT’s preseason Statewide Top 25 poll for boys basketball. The team recently won the 4A state championship and has several top 100 recruits in the nation returning.
The Vikings, who are currently ranked No. 2, have a winning streak of 32 games as they enter this season. They are closely followed by Central Cabarrus, the team that placed higher than Myers Park in last year’s rankings.
The initial rankings are dominated by the western half of North Carolina, with 16 out of the top 25 teams hailing from that region. The top team from the eastern half is Farmville Central, who are the defending champions in the 2A state division.
