Gates County extended their record-breaking year with a dominant victory over North East Carolina Prep.
Although Gatesville and Tarboro are over an hour away from each other, that didn’t stop approximately 50 supporters from Gates County from making the journey on Monday to cheer on their boys soccer team, which has broken records.
Gates County emerged victorious with a 6-2 away win against North East Carolina Prep at the Indian Lake Sports Complex.
Gates County was winless just four seasons ago and didn’t field a team until 2013. Last year was its first winning season. This year is its first conference title.
On Wednesday, the Red Barons (16-2-1, 7-0) will have their last regular season game at home against Martin County.
The Huskies (2-5, 2-5) will finish their regular season at their home stadium against their rival Tarboro, who also plays at the Indian Lake Sports Complex.
