The US aid office in Colombia has reported that their Facebook page was hacked.
The U.S. government agency responsible for overseeing foreign aid and development funding in Colombia has announced that its Facebook page was hacked. They are urging the public to disregard any posts or links from the account.
On Saturday, the United States Agency for International Development and the U.S. Embassy in Bogota released a statement stating that their employees discovered an unauthorized entry, which could pose a potential risk.
The statement did not mention the potential risk or clarify if the breach was caused by ransomware.
USAID’s Colombia program’s Facebook page showed the message: “This content is currently unavailable.” The agency has not yet addressed inquiries from The Associated Press regarding the extent and current state of the breach.
The agency released a statement advising both Facebook users and the public to be careful and disregard any content or links from the USAID Colombia Facebook account, which has been compromised. They also mentioned that their team is currently working to regain account security and determine the full extent of the breach.
