Word of God’s Trevor Best commits to Arizona State
Word of God Christian Academy senior Trevor Best will play college basketball at Arizona State — possibly as soon as this season.
Best announced his commitment live on WRAL-TV on Monday evening’s newscast.
“I wanted a good fit for me and a coach that likes guards heavy, so I’m looking forward to (Bobby Hurley) making me better,” Best said.
Best said Hurley is a good fit for him.
Best is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard for the Holy Rams. A native of Wilson, he began to receive high major interest late in the recruiting process.
The trip to Arizona State will happen in January for Best, who is about to play his final high school game before enrolling in college. It is possible he could play college basketball this season.
“I’m ready to make my mark,” Best said.
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame recorded a message for Best, which was played at his commitment. Waka Flocka Flame, a family friend, congratulated Best for his commitment.
“I want to congratulate you, salute you, and say I love man for taking advantage, and having the strength and the courage and the drive to keep going,” Waka Flocka Flame said. “We want to say congratulations, you did it man, we knew you could do it.”
In addition to the Sun Devils, Best had offers from Cincinnati, Hampton, and Norfolk State.
