Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers inauspicious season start continued on the trip home when their plane slid off the runway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport early Friday morning.
Witnesses at the airport told WCNC in Charlotte that a plane that ran off the runway was carrying the team. The team did not issue a statement but referred to a statement from Delta that described the incident.
Delta said, “The right main gear of Delta 8860 exited the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport following a normal arrival.”
The incident happened around 2:30 Friday morning.
About 180 people were on board. No one was injured.
