Which NCHSAA football conferences are having the best 2024 season? See our rankings

Entering week eight of the 2024 season, just about every non-conference game has been completed.

No matter the year, high school football fans love debating which conferences are the strongest in North Carolina.

Here is how I see the NCHSAA football conferences stack up against each other this season. This is a power ranking for each set of single classification conferences and each set of split classification conferences.

I’ve included each conference’s combined record against outside opponents. However, the rankings are not based on these combined records only. Much of this is based on my view of the strength of schedule that each league collectively played in the non-conference season. These rankings also reflect how much I feel a conference is weighed down by the worst teams in the league. A conference with no truly bad teams at the bottom will be ranked ahead of ones that do have them. On the flip side, the top of the conference can be so good that doesn’t matter how much the teams at the bottom have under-performed.

Note: Games played against regular conference opponents in non-conference were not counted. For example, Southern Carolina 4A foes Sun Valley and Marvin Ridge played each other in non-conference to fill their schedules.
