What to know about Deontre Pittman, the new head football coach at Northwest Halifax

Earlier in the offseason, Northwest Halifax hired Deontre Pittman to serve as its next head football coach. According to MaxPreps, the previous coach for the Vikings was Antonio Richardson.

Pittman is an alum of KIPP Pride High School in Gaston, NC. He attended East Carolina University in college, but did not play there. He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

At Northwest Halifax, Pittman will teach physical education as well as lead the football program.

In 2018, Northampton County High School head football coach George Privott brought on Pittman as an assistant coach. From 2021-23, he served in a dual role as the head coach of Northampton County Middle School and as an assistant on the high school staff. As the head coach of the middle school, Pittman accumulated an 11-3 overall record and won two middle school championships.

The Vikings last made the playoffs in 2010 and last had a winning record in 2008.
