West Wilkes’ third-ranked team defeated sixth-ranked Lake Norman with a strong second inning, scoring five runs.
There was no drop in performance for the third-ranked West Wilkes softball team as they moved up from the 2A division to take on the sixth-ranked Lake Norman team.
The Blackhawks secured a big 6-0 non-conference victory on the road with a powerful five-run second inning.
Lily Proffit, who is dedicated to playing for Appalachian State, displayed her extraordinary abilities once more as she was unstoppable while pitching. Throughout seven innings, she only gave up three hits and managed to strike out 14 Wildcats.
This season, West Wilkes has a dominant record of 49-2 against their opponents. In their upcoming match against East Surry on Thursday, the Blackhawks will resume playing in the Foothills Conference, where they currently hold a 3-0 record.
Lake Norman’s current record is 6-2. Their sole defeat was against the second-ranked team, Mooresville, during a match in the Greater Metro Conference. On Thursday evening, the Wildcats will host South Iredell.
