West Henderson softball closes out regular season with win over Tuscola
MILLS RIVER, N.C. — West Henderson had already locked up the Mountain 7 Conference title, so a Senior Night win against Tuscola on Thursday was icing on the celebratory cake.
The Falcons held off the Mountaineers by a 5-3 score.
West Henderson (18-2, 11-1) took its first lead in the first on a Lashea Morlu RBI single.
Tuscola (7-13, 5-7) evened the score on a passed ball in the top of the third to make it 1-1.
Makena Henderson broke open the game in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run shot to left field and lead 3-1.
Morlu followed up with an RBI double in the fifth and Henderson had an RBI triple.
Morlu was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and Henderson was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs.
Down 5-1, Tuscola got one back in the fifth on an Addi Sampson steal of home and, down to its last out, got one more on a wild pitch as Sydney Snowden scored. The next player grounded out to end the game.
