Welter: Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson’s relationship with UNC is still a love story, but the honeymoon’s over and I’m afraid of the twist :: WRALSportsFan.com
Michael Jordan is officially not the most famous Jordan in America.
Michael B. Jordan’s “Sinners” is the No. 1 movie at the box office. I highly recommend.
Jordon Hudson is now the face of North Carolina athletics and the No. 1 story in sports/entertainment news. I’m not the first to make this joke … but the new logo can be Bill Belichick lifting her up as part of an elaborate pilates beach pose. They are definitely a “Jordon” brand school.
This story boiled over after last weekend’s CBS News Sunday Morning interview. Hudson interrupted the interview when Belichick was asked about how the couple met. Social media exploded, and now Hudson is the lead of every entertainment outlet in the country.
In a vacuum, interrupting this interview doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but it’s part of a greater whole. Belichick, hired by North Carolina in December, built his career on no distractions. This has become a giant one.

At Belichick’s introductory press conference, Hudson was there, but in the background. She didn’t do interviews; she didn’t make the day about herself. I figured given the 49-year age gap, they’d probably like to keep it that way.
It’s been the opposite since.
Hudson was with Belichick in their Super Bowl commercial. She stole the red carpet at the NFL Honors. She was on the field for Carolina’s “Practice like a Pro” event. Belichick asked that she be copied on emails from other members of the UNC athletic department and is involved in the program’s social media and public relations strategy.
Okay, they want to spend time together at work. She’s 24, social media and PR strategy are her wheelhouse … fine.
But maybe the most alarming revelation is from Realtor.com. Hudson has been piecing together a New England real estate profile worth $8 million since 2023. Belichick and Hudson met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021. The couple’s romantic relationship went public in June of 2024. We don’t know that’s Bill’s money, but it seems like A LOT.
Look, Hudson can do whatever she wants, and so can Bill. He’s supporting his girlfriend’s career ambitions and he’s employing his two sons … the problem is it’s all coming at the expense of UNC.
North Carolina hired Belichick because it wanted to get serious about football, it wanted to win. I don’t think being the butt of every late night talk show joke is what UNC had in mind.
At Belichick’s introductory press conference, I asked him what he’d say to people who think he’s just coming to UNC to show he can still coach and he’ll bolt for the NFL as soon as he can.
He said: “I didn’t come here to leave.”
I’m starting to wonder why he came here at all.
Maybe all this Hudson stuff is overblown. It’s just filling the void left by Belichick giving the media very little access to actual football. Or, maybe. it is what many people feared. At a minimum, how Belichick has let this situation play out shows poor judgment and, ironically, a lack of control.
Bottom line is he needs to win. If he doesn’t, the fangs will come out and his critics will beĀ out for blood.
The movie “Sinners” starts as one thing and becomes a vampire movie halfway through.
“Chapel Bill” is still a love story, but the honeymoon is over, and I’m afraid of the twist.
