Weddington 4-star LB Thomas Davis Jr. commits to Notre Dame
The University of Notre Dame’s football program has found a pot of gold in the Charlotte area once again.
On Tuesday night, Weddington High School junior linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. announced his commitment to play for the Fighting Irish. Last year, Notre Dame landed commitments from Charlotte Catholic’s Jack Larsen and Charlotte Christian’s Micah Gilbert and Bryce Young.
Davis Jr., who goes by T.J., is a class of 2026 player who is considered a 4-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. 247 has him ranked as the No. 113 junior prospect in the country, Rivals has him No. 199, and ESPN has him No. 127.
His father, Thomas Davis Sr., attended the University of Georgia before starring in the NFL. Davis Jr. has yet to report an offer from Georgia.
T.J. is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds.
Over his recruitment, Davis Jr. reported offers from Campbell, Charlotte, UConn, North Carolina, NC State, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Indiana, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Penn State, Troy, Memphis, USC, James Madison, West Virginia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Ohio State, NC A&T, Oregon, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, and Clemson.
Davis is leading Weddington’s defense as a junior. The Warriors are 9-0 and the No. 2 seed in the 4A West playoffs. Last year, Davis Jr. helped the Warriors win the 4A state championship.
