Wakefield takes No. 1 in final boys soccer rankings for 2024

For the first time, Wakefield is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 boys soccer rankings, taking the top spot in the final rankings after winning the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A championship and ending the year with a 24-4 record.

The Wolverines are just in front of 3A champ Western Alamance, 4A East runner-up Green Hope, fourth-round participant Holly Springs, and 4A runner-up Marvin Ridge.

2A champ Clinton is eighth and 1A champ Mount Airy is 25th.

There has been a different No. 1 boys soccer team in each year of the HSOT final rankings: Wakefield (2024), First Flight (2023), Cardinal Gibbons (2022), New Hanover (2021), and Weddington (2020).
