Victory Christian Center rolls to NCISAA 1A girls basketball title over Crossroads Christian

Victory Christian Center wasted no time in making the best of its championship moment.

The Kings breezed by Crossroads Christian in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1A girls basketball championship by a 63-32 score.

Victory Christian Center (15-9) ran out to an 11-1 lead, led 18-6 after the first quarter and 32-17 at halftime, then tightened the clamps defensively in the third quarter.

Crossroads Christian (15-3) was doubled up going into the fourth quarter, 42-21.

Point guard Roselyn Sanchez was a menace defensively for the Kings, finishing the game with 16 points to go with four assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Isabell Berhe provided the outside shooting for Victory Christian Center. She had 15 points on five made 3-pointers, plus five steals. Oliwia Wilczynska had nine rebounds and four steals, while and Sofia Ponce had nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Crossroads Christian was led in the runner-up effort by a double-double from Elyssa Phillips (11 points, 11 rebounds). She also led her team in assists (three) and was tied for first in steals (three).

Earlier in the day, at Providence Day School, Victory Christian Center’s boys also defeated Crossroads Christian for the 1A title.

Charlotte Latin was the host site of the 1A girls game.
