Vance County 3-star Taeshawn Alston commits to South Carolina

The South Carolina Gamecocks have landed another recruit from the state to their north.

On Tuesday night, Vance County High School rising senior edge rusher Taeshawn Alston announced his pledge to the SEC school.

Alston is a consensus a 3-star prospect according to On3, 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. He is ranked as high as the No. 9 class of 2025 prospect in North Carolina (by 247Sports) and as low as the No. 16 rising senior in the state.

He received a good amount of offers.

NC Central, NC A&T, Richmond, East Carolina, Liberty, Appalachian State, Colorado, USF, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina allo offered a spot on their team to Alston.

Over his first three seasons as a varsity football player, Alston has accumulated 148 career tackles, 31.5 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, and six forced fumbles.

He is a three-sport athlete that also plays baseball and basketball.

Alston helped Vance County to a 10-1 overall record and a Northern Lakes 2A/3A Conference championship last fall.
