Updated NCHSAA girls indoor track & field championship history
The first N.C. High School Athletic Association girls indoor track & field championship was held in 1987, and the there have been a few of changes since then.
There was only one team champion until 2007, when it went to three classes: 4A, 3A, and 1A/2A.
3A and 1A/2A were split apart in 2014, giving the NCHSAA threechampions each year.
During the pandemic-influenced 2020-21 season, the 2021 season was canceled.
The record for the most team titles is held by Cummings, which has 12. Cuthbertson and Southeast Raleigh are tied for second with seven apiece, and Dudley and Mount Tabor are tied for fourth with five each.
