Updated NCHSAA boys indoor track & field championship history

The first N.C. High School Athletic Association boys indoor track & field championship was held in 1987, and the there have been a few of changes since then.

There was only one team champion until 2007, when it went to three classes: 4A, 3A, and 1A/2A.

3A and 1A/2A were split apart in 2014, giving the NCHSAA threechampions each year.

During the pandemic-influenced 2020-21 season, the 2021 season was canceled.

The most team titles is held by North Rowan, who has five. Five schools — Croatan, Knightdale, North Brunswick, Southeast Raleigh, Weddington — have four apiece.
