UNC offers Southern Durham rising soph. WR Jonathan Dillon

Southern Durham High School’s class of 2027 wide receiver received a verbal scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football program on Thursday. Southern Durham competed in UNC’s King of the Hill 7-on-7 tournament during the day.

Dillon stood out at the event by making multiple highlight catches.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound athlete reported the offer to his social media accounts.

The rising sophomore previously received offers from Charlotte, East Carolina, Miami, Troy, Georgia Tech, Liberty, West Virginia, and Appalachian State.

During his freshman season on varsity, Dillon caught 23 passes for 461 yards and four touchdowns. He also had seven carries for 64 yards and three touchdowns.

Southern Durham finished the 2023 season with a 7-5 overall record. The Spartans made it to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A East playoffs, where they fell on the road at Scotland by a score of 21-12.
