UNC men’s basketball adds Georgia Tech transfer :: WRALSportsFan.com
North Carolina is adding a late transfer from another ACC school.
Former Georgia Tech forward Tyzhaun Claude committed to the Tar Heels’ men’s basketball program Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
Claude, who is from Goldsboro, averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Yellow Jackets. Claude, 6-foot-7 and 226 pounds, started his career at Morehead State before transferring to Western Carolina and then Georgia Tech.
Claude averaged 9.5 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game at Morehead State in 2019-20. Due to the coronavirus pandemic that wiped out the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA gave everyone who played that season an extra year of eligibility.
Claude did not play in 2020-21 due to an injury and then appeared in just nine games in 2021-22 for Morehead State. In 2022-23, Claude averaged 15.4 points and a Southern Conference-high 8.6 rebounds per game at Western Carolina.
The Tar Heels return guards R.J. Davis, the ACC Player of the Year, Eliot Cadeau and Seth Trimble from last year’s team. They have added several transfers, including Cade Tyson (Belmont) and forward Ven-Allen Lubin (Vanderbilt).
