UNC commit Demon June rushes for 407 yards in Jacksonville’s win over D.H. Conley
On Friday night, a 3-star UNC commit delivered the best rushing performance by any N.C. High School Athletic Association athlete in the 2020s.
Demon June, of Jacksonville High School, rushed for 407 yards and six touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 62-43 win over D.H. Conley. According to Jacksonville’s stats on MaxPreps, June did it on just 23 carries,. He averaged 17.7 yards per attempt.
It is the most rushing yards by any NCHSAA player since Quinton Cooley’s 413-yard performance in 2018. Cooley, currently at Liberty University, is one of the most productive college football running backs in America.
The 407 yards would rank 32nd all-time in the NCHSAA record book.
Jacksonville as a team rushed for 699 yards in the contest. That number would be the 10th most by a team in a single game in state history once it gets entered into the record book.
June committed to Carolina in August.
The Cardinals are 6-1 overall on the season and in a three-way tie for first place in the Big Carolina 3A/4A Conference. June has rushed for 1,055 yards and 14 touchdowns over the seven games.
