— Olivia Tucker scored 24 points, Courtney Dahlquist added 17 and Campbell defeated ETSU 58-51 Tuesday evening at Gore Arena. Campbell improves to 3-1 on the season while ETSU falls to 1-4.

Three different Camels knocked down threes in the first quarter as the Camels used a 12-0 run to lead by as many as 14 to open the game.

The Buccaneers responded with a 12-0 run of their own, scoring the final eight points of the first quarter and the first four points in the second period, to pull within four points of the Camels. Tucker, who finished the first half with 15 points, knocked down her third three of the game to give CU a 27-23 advantage at the break.

Dahlquist connected on three triples in the first three minutes of the third quarter to push the lead back to double-figures. ETSU cut the deficit back to one before Tucker hit her fourth three of the night, added a free throw, while Gemma Nunez hit a layup to put the Camels ahead 43-36 heading to the final period.

The Buccaneers opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run, taking their first lead of the game with less than seven minutes remaining. The Camels answered as both Tucker and Dahlquist knocked down their fifth three-pointers of the night. Campbell forced the Bucs to shoot 5-of-16 from the field in the final period as Nunez made four free throws to seal the game in the final minutes.

A freshman, Tucker’s 24 points are the most by a freshman since Shy Tuelle scored 23 in a win over USC Upstate during the 2019-20 season. A native of nearby Durham, N.C., Tucker made 8-of-14 shots from the field and 5-of-8 from three, while adding four boards and one steal.

Dahlquist’s 17 points and five three-pointers marked a career high for the senior who added four boards and three assists. Nunez finished with 11 points, seven boards, five assists, three steals and just one turnover. Audrey Fuller broke her career-high for rebounds for a second-straight outing, grabbing 11 including four on the offensive glass.

Courtney Moore scored 13 points while Meghan Downing grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Buccaneers. Braylyn Milton, who entered the contest as ETSU’s leading scorer, was held to zero points.

ETSU shot 39.6 percent (19-of-48) from the floor, 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from three and made 4-of-5 free throws while the Camels shot just 32.2 percent (19-of-59) of its overall shots but made 11 threes. The Camels forced 17 turnovers and also held a 39-32 edge on the boards.

Campbell returns to action on Friday in a 5:30 PM tip at Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
