Trinity secures victory over Seaforth to claim their first dual-team state championship in wrestling.

Trinity has achieved a historic victory by winning the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team wrestling state championship for the first time in their school’s history.

On Saturday, at the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse, Trinity emerged victorious over Seaforth with a score of 36-31 in the 2A dual-team wrestling state championship. This victory comes after the Bulldogs were knocked out in the second round of the dual-team tournament last season.

In the championship match, the Bulldogs achieved three pins. Joseph Trahan pinned Palmer Moad in the 285-pound weight class at 0:47, Jaden Allred pinned Noah Lisk in the 138-pound weight class at 1:49, and the final pin was secured by Lawson Coltrane in the 170-pound weight class at 3:37, leading Trinity to victory.

The Bulldogs began their day with Trahan’s pin in the 285-pound weight class, but Seaforth quickly gained the upper hand with three consecutive victories in the 106, 113, and 120-pound weight divisions. Gabe Rogers secured a fall, Jordan Miller triumphed with an 8-5 decision, and Josh Miller dominated with a 12-3 major decision, giving Seaforth a lead of 13-6 after four weight classes.

However, Trinity emerged victorious in the following seven matches, with Allred and Coltrane both securing pins and Zane Schloemer winning by disqualification in the 160-pound weight class.

Seaforth’s appearance in the state championship on Saturday marked the first time the Hawks had competed in a dual-team state championship.
