The most recent transfer portal period for college football began on December 4th for the majority of players. Graduate transfers and those affected by coaching changes are able to enter immediately.
Several players have already stated their intentions. Let’s take a look at which players from North Carolina, NC State, and Duke are transferring.
UNC
Kamari Morales, a Tight End, participated in 53 games for the University of North Carolina from 2019 to 2023. Throughout his career, he made 67 receptions for 761 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. In 2021, Morales recorded 24 catches for 220 yards and scored five touchdowns. The following year, he achieved career-best numbers with 29 receptions and 358 yards. In his final year at UNC, he made 11 catches for 158 yards before transferring to Boston College.
Kedrick Bingley-Jones, a DL player, was a part of the UNC team for three years, from 2021 to 2023. During his time there, he made eight tackles. In the first two years, he played in 11 games each, but in his final year, he only played in four games. He has now transferred to Mississippi State.
Elijah Green, a running back for UNC, appeared in a total of 27 games from 2020 to 2023. During this time, he recorded 156 rushing attempts for a total of 664 yards and eight touchdowns. The majority of his contribution was in the year 2022, where he rushed 131 times for 558 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 17 passes for 107 yards and one touchdown. However, in 2023, he only had four rushing attempts in five games as Omarion Hampton took over the running back position.
K Ryan Coe transferred from Cincinnati and participated in two games during the 2023 season. He successfully made three out of four field goal attempts and scored eight extra points. Additionally, he had nine touchbacks on 12 kickoffs.
Quarterback Jefferson Boaz appeared in two matches for UNC between 2020 and 2023. He successfully completed both of his passing attempts during his time with the team. UNC has officially announced that he will be participating in the upcoming bowl game.
Tychaun “Doc” Chapman, also known as WR, was a player for UNC from 2022 to 2023. During his time there, he participated in eight games and achieved five receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown in 2023. He also had four kickoff returns.
George Pettaway, a running back for UNC, participated in 15 games between 2022 and 2023. During the 2022 season, Pettaway had 20 rushes for a total of 93 yards and scored two touchdowns. However, in the following year, he did not have any carries as Omarion Hampton established himself as an All-ACC running back and British Brooks returned after recovering from an injury.
Andre Greene Jr. was a member of the University of North Carolina football team from 2022 to 2023, appearing in 11 games. Throughout his time with the team, he made five receptions for a total of 43 yards and scored one touchdown.
LB Randy “Deuce” Caldwell appeared in 21 games for the University of North Carolina from 2022 to 2023. Over the course of his career, he recorded seven tackles and one sack. In a game against Virginia Tech in 2022, he made four tackles and one sack.
Justin Kanyuk, a player for the OL team, became a part of the program in 2022.
Sebastian Cheeks was a linebacker for UNC from 2022 to 2023, appearing in 11 games. Throughout his time at UNC, Cheeks made four tackles.
CB Tayon Holloway appeared in 10 games for the University of North Carolina during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He was redshirted in 2022 and recorded a total of 19 tackles.
D.J. Jones, of the DB position, has been confirmed by UNC to participate in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. He has a record of playing in 42 games between 2020 and 2023, initially starting as a running back before transitioning to defense. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 442 rushing yards.
Incoming:
Max Johnson, a quarterback who previously played for LSU and Texas A&M, announced his commitment to UNC on November 28.
NC State
Christopher Toudle, TE: During his time at NC State from 2020 to 2023, he appeared in 39 games. Throughout his career, he recorded 30 receptions for a total of 320 yards and scored five touchdowns. However, he did not make any catches this season and instead took part in senior night festivities before the final home game against North Carolina.
Anthony Smith, the Wide Receiver for NC State, participated in 34 games from 2020 to 2023. Throughout his career, he accumulated 13 receptions, 243 receiving yards, and scored three touchdowns. In the 2023 season, Smith made two catches for 19 yards in a total of 10 games.
Michael Allen, a running back, appeared in all 16 games for NC State between 2022 and 2023. During this time, he had 105 carries for 519 yards and scored one touchdown. Additionally, he caught 22 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown.
RB Jordan Houston appeared in 51 games for NC State between 2019 and 2023. Throughout his time with the team, he accumulated 324 carries, 1,392 yards, and six touchdowns. Additionally, he caught 60 passes for 398 yards and one touchdown. Despite being the starting running back, Houston announced his departure from the team in September to maintain his eligibility. He only played in three games this season.
LB Daejuan Thompson participated in a total of five matches for NC State between 2022 and 2023. He appeared in four games during the 2022 season and one game during the current season. Throughout his time with the team, Thompson recorded three tackles and caused one fumble.
From 2021 to 2023, CB Nate Evans appeared in six games for NC State.
In his time at NC State from 2020 to 2023, WR Porter Rooks appeared in 49 games. Throughout his career, he made 79 catches for 891 yards and scored one touchdown. He will now be joining Eastern Michigan as his new school.
Jakeen Harris played in 29 games for NC State from 2019 to 2023. He was a starting safety but was injured in the 2023 season opener against UConn and did not play for the rest of the season.
In the years 2022 and 2023, QB MJ Morris participated in nine games for NC State. In 2023, he started as quarterback in four games, but then decided to redshirt in order to save a year of eligibility. During his time at NC State, he threw for 1,367 yards and scored 14 touchdowns.
C.J. Clark was a member of the NC State football team from 2019 to 2023, appearing in 42 games. Throughout his time with the team, he made a total of 72 tackles and earned four sacks. In 2021, Clark started three games but was unfortunately sidelined for the rest of the season due to an injury sustained during practice. However, he recovered and was able to play in all 25 games during the following two seasons.
LB Torren Wright participated in a total of seven games during his time at NC State between 2022 and 2023. In the 2023 season, he made two tackles in those seven games. He has now transferred to Temple.
Lyndon Cooper played for NC State in 14 matches between 2021 and 2023. In 2023, he participated in eight games and was named the backup center on the team’s depth chart.
Terrell Timmons Jr, a wide receiver, appeared in 21 matches for NC State between 2022 and 2023. Throughout his college career, he made 14 catches for 274 yards and scored one touchdown. In 2023, he had 11 receptions for 195 yards but did not catch any passes in the last three games of the season. He later transferred to Colorado.
Darius Edmundson, also known as DB, transferred from Louisburg College and previously attended Southern Nash High School.
Christopher Scott, also known as CB Scott, appeared in a total of seven matches between the years 2020 and 2023. Due to an injury, he was unable to participate in the 2021 season, but in 2022 he made the switch from wide receiver to cornerback. Throughout his career, he achieved two receptions and four tackles.
Joshua Crabtree, wide receiver: Participated in a total of 11 games during the 2023 season. Additionally, he appeared in three games during the 2021 season and took part in 175 special teams plays in 2022.
Jaleel Davis became a member of the program in 2021.
Cedric Seabrough played for NC State from 2021 to 2023, appearing in 24 games. He took a redshirt year in 2021. In 2022, Seabrough had nine receptions for 56 yards and scored one touchdown. However, he did not make any catches in 2023.
NC State player CB Cecil Powell appeared in 33 games between 2019 and 2023. During his time with the team, he played as both a receiver and a cornerback, but sat out the 2021 and 2022 seasons due to injuries. Powell’s stats include four receptions for 30 yards and a total of 71 tackles throughout his career.
Incoming:
Grayson McCall, a quarterback from Coastal Carolina, started for four years with the Chanticleers. During this time, he successfully completed 70 percent of his passes and amassed a total of 10,005 yards with 88 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. He was also named the Sun Belt player of the year three times. McCall has one more season of eligibility remaining.
Zeke Correll, a Notre Dame alumnus, has been a starting player for two years with the Irish since 2019.
Valen Erickson (from Missouri) was redshirted in 2022 and did not participate in any games for Missouri. He then left the team midseason by entering the transfer portal.
Wesley Grimes, originally from Raleigh, played football at Millbrook High School before moving on to play for two years at Wake Forest. During his time at Wake Forest, he had 24 receptions for 372 yards and five touchdowns.
Justin Joly, a tight end from Connecticut, recorded 74 catches in 24 games for UConn during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In 2023, he had 56 receptions for 562 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Duke
On November 27, Coach Mike Elko departed for Texas A&M. In his place, Duke brought on Manny Diaz, the former head coach at Miami and current defensive coordinator at Penn State.
Quarterback Riley Leonard announced on social media that he will be departing from the Blue Devils program. Multiple sources have reported that he will be entering the transfer portal. During his time at Duke from 2021 to 2023, Leonard appeared in 27 games and threw for 4,450 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,224 yards and 19 touchdowns. His new destination will be Notre Dame.
Aeneas Peebles, defensive tackle for Duke, played in 47 games between 2020 and 2023. Throughout his career, he tallied 84 tackles, with 13.5 resulting in a loss and 7.5 sacks. In his final year, the Raleigh native accumulated 40 tackles, 8.5 for loss, and four sacks, along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. He earned third-team All-ACC honors.
Jaden Watkins, a member of the team at Duke University, participated in a single game during the 2022-2023 season. In the spring of 2023, he transitioned from being a wide receiver to playing cornerback.
Jaylen Stinson appeared in 48 matches for Duke University from 2020 to 2023. During his time there, he recorded 211 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, and six passes defended. Stinson also served as a kickoff returner for three years. In 2021, he achieved two touchdowns on kickoff returns.
R.J. Oben, a defensive lineman, was a member of the Duke football team from 2019 to 2023. Throughout his career, he recorded a total of 67 tackles, 1.45 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles. Oben was a consistent player, appearing in all of Duke’s games for the past three seasons. He has recently transferred to Notre Dame.
Duke linebacker Dorian Mausi appeared in 44 games between 2020 and 2023, recording 193 tackles and 2.5 sacks over the course of four seasons.
Charlie Ham, a member of Duke’s team from 2019 to 2023, participated in a total of 44 games. During his time at Duke, he successfully completed 36 out of 50 field goal attempts between 2020 and 2022. However, in 2023, he was replaced as the starting player. He then took on the role of handling kickoffs for the team. Throughout his career, Ham had a total of 192 kickoffs, with 96 of them resulting in touchbacks.
According to reports, RB Jaquez Moore played for Duke University from 2021 to 2023, appearing in 33 games. Throughout his career, Moore accumulated 1,121 rushing yards and scored 11 touchdowns. He also made 11 receptions for 145 yards. Notably, this season he achieved a rushing performance of 110 yards and a touchdown against Florida State, as well as 100 yards and a touchdown against Virginia. It has been reported that Moore has withdrawn from the transfer portal.
Jordan Waters, a running back, appeared in 50 matches for Duke University from 2019 to 2023. Throughout his time at the university, he accumulated 1,624 rushing yards and scored 23 touchdowns. In the 2023 season, Waters achieved personal bests in carries (142), rushing yards (753), and touchdowns (12). He also had a total of 30 receptions for 305 yards and one touchdown in his college career.
Wake Forest
Mitch Griffis and Santino Marucci, both quarterbacks for Wake Forest, are now in the portal.
