Tracy powers No. 15 Marvin Ridge softball to blowout win at Cuthbertson
Three home runs, and a five-run fourth helped No. 15 Marvin Ridge quickly dispatch of Cuthbertson via run rule.
Ella Tracy went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs to pace the Mavericks in a 10-0 win in five innings. In the circle, Anna Phifer went the distance with five punch outs.
Two batters into the game, Tracy gave Marvin Ridge a lead that it would not relinquish. A line drive over the fence in right quickly put a crooked number on the board.
Elizabeth Capper pushed the lead to 3-0 through two when she plated Phifer on a double to the gap.
The Maverick advantage inflated to 4-0 after three thanks to Lexi Kirby’s double off the top of the wall in right followed by Hannah Ziecik’s run-scoring single to left.
In the top of the fourth, a two out rally opened the floodgates.
Tracy sent a moonshot over the wall in dead center for her fourth RBI of the evening, and a 6-0 lead. Addison Studney kept things rolling with an RBI double to bring home Ansley Green.
It’s the second time in Tracy’s career that she has muscled up for a multi-homer game. The first came a year ago on April 6, 2023 when she hit three against… Cuthbertson.
The score was 9-0 through four after Courtney Pearce came home on an infield single and Studney scampered home from third on a pick-off attempt to first.
Phifer ran into a jam in the bottom of the fourth when Cuthbertson put two in scoring position with two down. Kaitlyn Robinson rocked a ball to the alley way in right center, but Tracy ranged over to make a running grab to keep the Cavaliers off the board.
Pearce secured the 10-0 lead in the fifth when she erupted the road dugout with a solo home run to center.
It’s the fifth time in nine games that Marvin Ridge (8-1, 2-0) has won by double figures. The Mavericks quickly turnaround to host Cannon School on Tuesday evening.
Cuthbertson dropped to 6-4 with the loss, and 1-1 in league play.
