Top 25 statewide rankings for boys basketball: Hopewell moves up into the list.

There are two additional teams included in this week’s HSOT statewide Top 25 rankings for boys basketball.

Hopewell, located in Mecklenburg County, has secured the 25th spot after nearly defeating Chambers at No. 16 during Friday’s game.

Davie County, with a record of 13 wins and 0 losses, has now made their debut in the rankings at No. 22. This marks the first appearance for the War Eagles in the statewide poll this season. Their recent victory on the road against Mount Tabor was quite impressive.

Chapel Hill was removed from the Top 25 rankings due to their recent defeats against Cardinal Gibbons on the road and Heritage at home. Hopewell took the place of Davidson Day, who was previously ranked at No. 24.

There have been several changes in our rankings for the top 15 area codes at the bottom.

These are some details regarding the methodology used for ranking boys’ basketball teams:

  • The rankings are refreshed every week and made public on Mondays.

  • The top 25 schools in the state of North Carolina, with the exception of athletic training academies, are qualified for the statewide ranking.

  • .

The state’s six area codes have a distinct top 15 ranking, which is updated on a weekly basis.

  • During the playoffs for the N.C. High School Athletic Association, rankings will not be updated.

  • The rankings are finalized the week following the state championships.
