Thomasville picks Bradley George to take over storied football program

Thomasville High School found its next head football coach from inside the program. Bradley George will take over for the retired Kevin Gillespie. Gillespie confirmed the selection to HighSchoolOT today.

George has recently served in the program as a wide receivers coach, according to his LinkedIn profile. At the same time, he taught physical education at Thomasville Middle School and was the head basketball coach. He has already been serving as the interim coach of the team since Gillespie stepped down in May.

From July 2020 through August 2022, George was an athletic director, teacher, and head football coach at Victory Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida.

Gillespie led the Bulldogs to a 32-12 overall record since he took over in 2020. Thomasville reached the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s state playoffs three times under Gillespie.

The Bulldogs have a storied football program that has won 10 regional championships and seven state championships. Thomasville won state championships in 1983, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1995, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008.
