ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Mother Nature might not be through complicating the Buffalo Bills’ playoff schedule, leaving coach Sean McDermott assessing his options on Tuesday.

As of now, McDermott has stated that the team plans to continue practicing on both Wednesday and Thursday. However, they will be keeping a close eye on the forecast as it predicts a lake-effect storm that could result in almost 2 feet of snow in the Buffalo area.

After defeating Pittsburgh in the playoffs with a score of 31-17 on Monday, the Bills will be facing the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC divisional round matchup on Sunday night.

“We have a strategy in place to ensure that we acquire players and staff at the appropriate time, while also staying on top of scheduling,” stated McDermott. “I am confident in our ability to handle it. Our priority right now is to maintain open communication.”

Currently, there is a travel warning for Erie County and the county executive, Mark Poloncarz, is urging employers to let their employees work remotely for the rest of the week. It is not yet decided if there will be a restriction on travel, which could impact Bills players’ ability to drive to their facility.

This would be the second instance in under a week that the area has experienced a storm, following a lake-effect snowstorm that brought 1 to 3 feet of snow over the weekend, primarily affecting Orchard Park, New York where the Bills play.

Due to a two-day storm last weekend, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the NFL have decided to postpone the Bills’ wild-card playoff game against Pittsburgh from its original Sunday 1 p.m. slot to Monday at 4:30 p.m. due to concerns for public safety.

Consequently, the Bills have a limited amount of time to prepare for their next game, while the Chiefs are well-rested following their 26-7 victory against Miami on Saturday evening.

The Bills are currently facing a surge of injuries, leaving the status of at least nine players uncertain.

McDermott stated that we have no choice but to prepare ourselves for the upcoming situation.

“Our team has persevered throughout the entire season. We will not give up now. Our team has shown great resilience and our players have done an exceptional job of filling in when someone was injured,” he stated.

“We must ensure that we are dedicating the necessary time and effort, whether it’s through treatment options or taking advantage of opportunities, to get ourselves in the best possible shape for Sunday’s game.”

On Tuesday, the Bills let go of RB Leonard Fournette from their practice squad.
