The record for “most consecutive wins” in the N.C. High School Athletic Association belongs to three teams: Beaufort with 91 consecutive wins from 1960-1962, Stanley with 88 straight wins from 1938-1942, and Durham with 73 wins in a row from 1937-1940.

All three schools share some similarities, such as the fact that they no longer exist and are not expected to be joined by another team this season.

However, Central Cabarrus, ranked second, has the potential to catch up if it maintains its performance from Wednesday evening.

The Vikings dominated the Spiders 83-50 in a match between the top two teams in the South Piedmont 3A Conference, with 24 turnovers caused by the home team.

The Vikings had a perfect record of 14 wins and 0 losses, with a conference record of 6 wins and 0 losses. They started strong by scoring 15 points before their opponents could score, and continued to dominate with a score of 21-2. By the end of the first quarter, they had a commanding lead of 36-7 and extended it to 52-20 by halftime.

Their winning streak has reached 46 consecutive wins, currently the top streak in the NCHSAA. However, this year’s potential streak will likely only reach the mid-60s, not enough to rank among the top three in the state’s recorded history. The Vikings have also been dominant at home, with 42 straight victories.

In the game, Central Cabarrus had a total of 21 assists out of 26 made field goals.

Jeremiah Howard contributed 10 points to lead Concord (8-6, 4-1).

The Vikings were led by Joshua Dalton with a game-high of 21 points. Additionally, Desmond Kent contributed 20 points and Carson Daniel had 14 points.
