The 10th seed North Carolina State defeated 15th seed Louisville 94-85 in the initial round of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday night. Casey Morsell led the team with 25 points, while Jayden Taylor contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Despite a strong 36-point effort from Skyy Clark, it was not enough to secure a win for Louisville.
NC State, with a record of 18-14, will move on to face the No. 7 seeded Syracuse in the next round on Wednesday. The Wolfpack were defeated by the Orange in both of their previous matchups this season, with scores of 77-65 on the road and 87-83 at home.
Clark scored consecutive 3-pointers, evening the score at 75 points each with 4:50 remaining in the game, and achieved a personal best of 30 points. However, Taylor countered with two successful shots from behind the 3-point line, giving N.C. State an 81-77 advantage.
