The newly built Ballantyne Ridge high school has announced its official mascot and logo for the CMS district.
In August, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools plans to unveil a new high school in South Charlotte called Ballantyne Ridge High.
Earlier, the recently established school announced its official colors to be orange, Carolina blue, and gray. The school shared on Facebook on Friday that their chosen mascot is the Wolves. On Wednesday, the school’s football team posted on X to showcase the approved logos and wordmarks.
The new school will open in 2022, only two years after Palisades High School. These two schools were built to ease the overcrowding at neighboring high schools. Myers Park High, Ardrey Kell High, and South Mecklenburg High all have over 3,000 students each.
The school will be situated on the ridge of the Ballantyne neighborhood, north of the South Carolina border. Its campus is positioned between South Mecklenburg, Providence, and Ardrey Kell High Schools. It appears that the school will draw most of its influence from Ardrey Kell, which is approximately 3.5 miles away.
Jeff Smith will be the first athletic director at Ballantyne Ridge.
These are the designated logos and wordmarks that have been approved.
