The latest rankings for girls’ basketball have been released and Alexander Central and Mallard Creek have made it into the Top 25 just in time for Christmas.

Before Christmas, the HSOT Statewide Top 25 girls basketball rankings have been updated with two new teams. This is the final set for now.

Alexander Central enters the state rankings at number 13 following an impressive 10-0 beginning to their season, highlighted by strong victories against formidable opponents.

Mallard Creek made its debut in the state rankings at 25th place following a strong victory against North Mecklenburg. Chapel Hill was excluded from the rankings by only a narrow margin after narrowly defeating an unranked opponent.

After losing to Hibriten, East Lincoln dropped out of the Top 25 rankings.

The area code rankings for HSOT have significant variations towards the bottom.

Below are some details about the methodology behind our rankings for girls’ basketball:

  • The rankings are revised every week and made available on Mondays.

  • All high schools in North Carolina, except for athletic training academies, qualify for the top 25 ranking in the state.

  • The state’s six area codes have their own top 15 list, which is updated on a weekly basis.

  • During the playoffs of the N.C. High School Athletic Association, rankings will not be updated.

  • .

    The rankings will be announced one week after the state championships.
